“Narvskaya Zastava” made gift for local historians of Kirillov

The holdings of the Kirillo-Belozersky Museum-Reserve have been replenished with one more edition lately. Anastasia Alexandrovna Zhirkova, deputy director on scientific work in the Local History Museum “Narvskaya Zastava”, donated the collection of articles “Centenary of the Russian Revolution” prepared according to the results of the conference that had been held in St. Petersburg in April 2017.

The article of A.A. Zhirkova “Revolutionary Events of 1917 As Viewed by One of Their Participants - V.G. Volodin” is of special interest for local historians in Kirillov. It is about the native of the Kirillov district, relative of the author of this article – great-grandfather’s brother of Anastasia Alexandrovna. This article was written using the archival materials kept in the Archive and Manuscript Section of the Kirillo-Belozersky Museum-Reserve. The collection published on the occasion of the centenary of the Revolution gives us a chance to see the historical events of 1917 through the eyes of their direct participants, including our fellow-townsman. Vasily Gavrilovich Volodin (1890-1936) was born in the village of Lukinskoye of the Volokoslavino volost. During the October Revolution, he turned out to be in the Smolny Institute. He wrote about it in his memoirs. From 1918 to 1923, Volodin was in Petrograd and Kronstadt, and then worked in different party and Soviet institutions in Tula, Moscow, Oryol and Kharkov.

The Kirillo-Belozersky Museum-Reserve thanks A.A. Zhirkova for the presented book and looks forward to further cooperation.

Residents of Kirillov can see the Revolution of 1917 through the eyes of their fellow-townsman Vasily Volodin. It has become possible after the Kirillo-Belozersky Museum-Reserve bought the collection of articles about the centenary of the Russian Revolution.
