Employees of Kirillo-Belozersky Museum-Reserve and Museum of Dionisy’s Frescoes participated in International Scientific Conference “Mount Athos – the Light of the Orthodox Christianity. Interaction of Cultures”

The reports were about works of art and cultural monuments of the monasteries of Mount Athos, art of Byzantium, the Balkans and Ancient Russia, art contacts in the Christian world, traditions of spiritual practice of Athos in modern Orthodox culture, study and preservation of religious monuments.

O.V. Silina and Y.V. Shemyakova presented their reports at the conference: “Holy Fathers Sermon” in the Wall Painting of the Nativity of the Virgin Cathedral in the Ferapontov Monastery and Its Connection with Liturgy” (O.V. Silina); “Early Stages of the Iconostasis Formation in the Nativity of the Virgin Cathedral in the Ferapontov Monastery” (Y.V. Shemyakova).
