Voices of “Cantilena”

The Interdistrict Singing Competition “Cantilena” organized by the District Youth Centre “Alfa” and the Kirillo-Belozersky Historical, Architectural and Art Museum-Reserve presented new talents in the Kirillov land!
Folk songs, compositions of classical vocal music, romances, art songs and spiritual compositions could be heard in the Kirillo-Belozersky Museum-Reserve at the 11th Interdistrict Easter Singing Competition “Cantilena”.
All songs were performed with live accompaniment, without any sound recordings and microphones. There were only voices and sincere emotions. Monk-priest Nikolay opened the contest wishing everybody a Happy Easter.
“Christ is Risen!” sang the participants of “Cantilena”. The contestants told kind, tender and sincere stories about angels, empyrean love and God in the conference hall of the museum.
The jury consisted of monk-priest Nikolay, rural dean of the Kirillo-Belozersky Monastery; singer Elena Vyazigina; Tatiana Demidova, music teacher of the Kindergarten № 2; and Anna Yefremova, music teacher of the Kindergarten № 3. They judged the contestants in 4 age categories. The youngest participant was only 7 years old and the oldest one – 30.
Alisa Viktorova (the Sunday school of the Kirillo-Belozersky Monastery, teacher M.V. Komkova), Yana Baldina (the Kirillov Art School, teacher O.Y. Chechanicheva), Anna Lazarenko (the Vologda Regional College of Culture and Tourism, teacher S.I. Zavarina) became winners among soloists.
The jury determined the best ensembles: “Kupava (Glowerflower)” (the Vologda Regional College of Culture and Tourism, teacher Y.S. Shebunina) and the vocal ensemble of the Sunday school (teacher M.V. Komkova). The duet “Fantasy” (the Kirillov Art School, teacher O.Y. Chechanicheva) also took the first place at the contest.
The Interdistrict Singing Competition “Cantilena” organized by the District Youth Centre “Alfa” and the Kirillo-Belozersky Historical, Architectural and Art Museum-Reserve is to preserve historical, spiritual and cultural traditions of the Russian people, to promote building of the system of moral and spiritual, national and cultural aspects, and to evolve talented singers among children and youth.
