Unique costumes from museum collection were presented in People’s House on threshold of International Women’s Day
Everybody will be able to see costumes from the museum collection at the exhibition “Women’s Costume. Details” staged in the People’s House from March 8 to May 14, 2017.
At the fashion show, museum employees demonstrated traditional peasant clothing: pinafore dresses, shirts, skirts, aprons, kerchiefs, belts, headdresses and other items of the costumes worn by girls, women and men. Plenty of them were sewn using home-made fabrics. But there were some pinafore dresses sewn of factory-made fabrics; prosperous peasants used to wear them during holidays. Along with the peasant costume that made up a considerable part of the museum folk textile collection, spectators could see women’s town clothes of the early 20th century and remembered the Soviet epoch fashion.
