They spoke about heroes’ recent feats on stage of Kirillo-Belozersky Museum-Reserve!

23 October 2017

Vyacheslav Korneev, Ekaterina Stelmakh, Nikolay Smirnov, Grigory Dovgan, Vladimir Orlov and Valery Gostinshchikov gave a concert in the museum on the threshold of the 620th anniversary of the foundation of the Kirillo-Belozersky Monastery.

“These Towers are My Beacons!” – was the name of the concert that was held in the New Town of the Kirillo-Belozersky Museum-Reserve within the framework of the action “We Remember Heroes”. These words from the poem of Valery Gostinshchikov, member of the Union of Russian Writers, were expressed in a special way here, at the Moscow Tower.

The concert dedicated to the memory of St. Kirill Belozersky and all warriors - our fellow-townsmen left nobody cold. The weather changed several times during the event: it greeted everybody with the warm sun and saw off with a heavy downpour.

People who had gone through many trials, but not just usual artists told their stories on the stage. Vyacheslav Korneev nicknamed “Leshy (Wood Spirit)” who had participated in both Chechen campaigns, in the military operations in Ossetia, Abkhazia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Donbas, and the Syrian Arab Republic sang songs composed to his own verse. They won the listeners’ hearts in the Internet space a long time ago thanks to their sincerity and truth.

Nikolay Smirnov, singer-songwriter from Cherepovets, conveyed the stories of his fallen friends who had served in the air-borne troops. Instead of an automatic rifle, he was holding a guitar in his hands – that very instrument that often helped soldiers… to survive.

Vladimir Orlov, Cavalier of the Order of Courage, is in retirement now – he was blown up by a land mine in one of the military campaigns. But he came to the Kirillo-Belozersky Museum-Reserve to perform here.

Grigory Dovgan, retired lieutenant-colonel of the police, sang about real officers. The veteran of the air-borne troops and the Ministry of the Interior is a winner of many vocal contests. Everybody sang together with him in Kirillov.

The performance of ballet dancer Ekaterina Stelmakh became a real decoration of the event. She graduated from the Vaganova Academy of Russian Ballet not long ago. But as she admits herself, she has already danced in the Mariinsky Theatre, the Mikhailovsky Theatre and the Alexandrinsky Theatre. She choreographs a lot of dances that she executes in various military training areas herself. She participates in some cultural events held sometimes in the trouble spots together with Vyacheslav Korneev. She has also presented her own concert numbers here – on the stage of the Kirillo-Belozersky Museum-Reserve!

The artists admitted that the venue for the concert was chosen for a good reason. “We sing about the defenders, and there were a lot of them here – both patron saints and earthly defenders”, they explained.
