Restoration Council in museum

Five articles returned to the museum after restoration in the Vologda’s branch of the All-Russian Art Research and Restoration Centre named after Academician I.E. Grabar. The matter concerns two pictures of S.L. Tserkovnitsky, two items from the collection of folk textile and the icon “Pantocrator”. The image of Christ is being presented at the exhibition “Signed and Dated Works of Church Art” in the People’s House now.

Fine art restorer N.V. Smirnova introduced her report on the completion of restoration of 17 articles from the collection of precious metals.

Fine art restorer N.N. Fedyshin completed restoration of the 17th-century icon “Christ in Glory” from the Gate Church of Epiphany in the Ferapontov Monastery.

Fine art restorer N.V. Petukhov completed conservation of the icon-frame “Trinity” painted in the 17th-18th centuries and introduced his new task. He will restore the 17th-century icon of St. John the Baptist under the direction of N.N. Fedyshin.

At the end of the meeting, I.A. Smirnov, deputy director of the Kirillo-Belozersky Museum-Reserve, thanked the specialists for quality restoration of the museum articles and noted that the work of the Scientific and Storage Department reached a new level in 2016.
