Pupils of Kirillov joined All-Russian Environmental Action “Feed Birds in Winter”

14 December 2016

The action has been annually held by the Russian Bird Conservation Union since 2002. People organize environmental and educational events and feed birds in different regions of the country from November till late April.

Katya Gromova, Yulya Kutuzova, Vika Generalova and Matvey Bondarenko told us about the process of making their bird feeders.

Katya Gromova: “We made our bird feeder using a box. First we cut it out and assembled it. Then we thought over a pattern that was to decorate it. We drew a bird and painted it”.

Yulya Kutuzova: “Our bird feeder was made of a bottle. We made a hole in it using a letter opener. Then we glued cones and flowers to decorate our bird feeder”.

Vika Generalova: “My father and grandfather helped me to make a bird feeder. We took boards and cut out small and big “logs”, clapped them on the roof of the bird feeder and attached a rope to hang it in the tree”.

Matvey Bondarenko: “I made a bird feeder with my father in the joinery and used a board for it. We decorated it with cones. We drew a bullfinch using a special hot glue gun and painted it”.

Museum employees look after our feathered neighbours every year and regularly feed them. Dear friends, if you plan to visit our museum, don’t forget to take something for our winged friends. Remember that wintering birds will have more chances to survive if we feed them on time.
