Kirillo-Belozersky Museum-Reserve took part in international exhibition “Denkmal, Russia – Moscow 2017”!

Mikhail Sharomazov, director general of the Kirillo-Belozersky Museum-Reserve, introduced the results of work carried out by the experts of the preservation service of the cultural heritage sites at the international fair.

The Fourth International Trade Fair for Preservation, Restoration and Museum Technology “Denkmal, Russia – Moscow 2017” was held in the exhibition complex Gostiny Dvor from November 8 to 10. The Kirillo-Belozersky Museum-Reserve took an active part in the event.

Vladimir Medinsky, Minister of Culture of the RF, Sergey Sobyanin, Mayor of Moscow, and Burkhard Jung, Lord Mayor of the City of Leipzig, attended it together with hundreds of participants.

The Mayor of the Russian capital noted that there were some contradictions between the cultural heritage and modern development in the cities then, “It is important for us to make this development absolutely balanced”.

This issue is not very topical in our small historical town of Kirillov. Mikhail Sharomazov, director general of the Kirillo-Belozersky Museum-Reserve, reasoned that the Kirillo-Belozersky Museum-Reserve located within the town kept the builders within bounds making all of them to comply with some certain architectural rules.

In Moscow, the Kirillo-Belozersky Museum-Reserve, presented the results of work carried out by the experts of the preservation service of the cultural heritage sites in 2016-2017. Visitors could get information about the maintenance work on the façades of the Church of the Presentation of the Virgin in the Temple with the Refectory (1519), the Bell-Tower of the 18th century, the House of the Father Superior of the 18th century, the stone wall along the main alley of the 19th century in the ensemble of the Kirillo-Belozersky Monastery.

The results of restoration and conservation of some articles from the museum collections of Old Russian art, wood, metal and folk textile were also introduced at the international fair. .

Besides, it was possible to estimate the amount of restoration work in the UNESCO World Heritage Site – the ensemble of the Ferapontov Monastery. A presentation summing up the restoration of the World Heritage Site was delivered for all guests of the event.
