Kirillo-Belozersky Museum-Reserve hosted Ecology Meeting!

06 December 2017

Teams of not only the Kirillov district, but also the regional capital participated in the ecology meeting held in the Kirillo-Belozersky Museum-Reserve.

The Eighth District Ecology Meeting “Friends of Nature” that became traditional was held in the Kirillo-Belozersky Museum-Reserve. 11 teams participated in this year’s event marking the Year of Ecology and the centenary of the foundation of specially protected natural sites.

A.L. Kuznetsov, director of the National Park “Russian North”, noted opening the event, “Dear friends, participants of the meeting held within the framework of the International Action “March of Parks”, the modern world of technological advance doesn’t guarantee good environment, but it is one of the characteristics of our life and health. We can’t live without nature. Therefore during the Year of Ecology, the National Park “Russian North” together with the Children’s Art Centre holds environmental educational events and attracts attention of the population to the problems of life quality!”

A.L. Kuznetsov demonstrated the logo of the Year of Ecology to the participants of the event. He reported that the meeting “Friends of Nature” became regional, “We are adding areas! Now children from other subjects of the region are taking part in our event. A lot of new partners and teams are in the future! We are developing!”

The St. Nil Sorsky Monastery is located in the National Park “Russian North”. The team “I am a Volunteer” (the District Youth Centre “Alfa”) told about it. Pupils of the Alyoshinskaya School presented the Shalgobodunovsky forest. Elementary school pupils of Kirillov reported about the history of the Goritsy Convent situated in the national park. They prepared the whole theatricalized performance under the direction of N. Vorobyova. It touched the feelings of everybody in the conference hall.

Presentations of numerous teams lasted for several hours. The jury chaired by A.M. Plekhova, director of the Creative Association “Diadal” (Vologda), consisted of L.V. Kuznetsova, head of the Department of Resource Management and Science in the National Park “Russian North”; E.A. Makarova, chief engineer of the National Park “Russian North”; A.O. Silivanova, teacher of additional education in the Children’s Art Centre; S.V. Teryokhina, specialist of the IT Department in the Centre Providing Activity of Educational Institutions. It was rather difficult to determine the winners. Each work was original and interesting in its own way.

As a result, pupils of the Talitsy School were named the best. They took the first place thanks to … folklore! They sang four-line rhyming verses about nature. The team “Red Book” became the winner of the Eighth District Ecology Meeting “Friends of Nature”.

The teams of the schools in Kirillov and Ferapontovo shared the second place. The squad of Vologda “Keepers of the Forest” placed in third.

The next meeting of the friends of nature is scheduled for 2018. The organizers thank the schools for participation and preparation for the environmental event.
