Illustrated stamped envelope with view of Kirillo-Belozersky Museum-Reserve and Monastery was issued
The Kirillo-Belozersky Monastery was founded by monk Kirill on the shore of Lake Siverskoye in 1397. The monastery was closed in Soviet times and a museum was opened within its walls in 1924. Later on it became one of the largest Russian museums.
The Kirillo-Belozersky Museum-Reserve is a landmark of the Vologda region, a treasure house of Russian culture and a place with remarkable history fraught with drama. The Kirillo-Belozersky Museum-Reserve has unique collections of Old Russian art, church embroidery, hand-written and early printed books, archeology, decorative and applied and folk art. The Kirillo-Belozersky Museum-Reserve was inscribed into the State List of the Most Precious Sites of Cultural Heritage of the Peoples of the Russian Federation in 1997.

It was published in an edition of 250 thousand copies.
