“God’s Time to Everything”, or is Easter still being celebrated?

Easter celebrations go on in the Kirillo-Belozersky Museum-Reserve!

All Orthodox Christians celebrated Easter on April 16, but they still greet each other saying “Christ is Risen!” The thing is that celebrations of the main Christian feast are the longest, they last for 38 days. “The Orthodox believers celebrate Easter during 40 days taking into account the feast day itself and the Leave-taking of Easter. The Saviour stayed on earth 40 days prior to his Ascension. The word “Pascha” means “deliverance, passing over” in Hebrew. The Christian Passover of the New Testament is the day of our transfer from death to immortal life, from earth to Heaven. By his resurrection, the Lord opened the doors of Paradise for people and gave them great joy and hope”, explained monk-priest Nil to the guests of the Easter party held by the Sunday school in the conference hall of the Kirillo-Belozersky Museum-Reserve last Sunday.

The festive Easter program consisted of two parts. Children’s voices lit up the Kirillo-Belozersky Monastery with Sunday hymns greeting everybody who came to the event. The heart was filled with joy when girls and boys communicated a joyful piece of news about the Resurrection of Christ.

The second part of the holiday was also very interesting. The theatre studio of the Sunday school presented the play “God’s Time to Everything” to the spectators. Its director T.V. Lyushina made people think of many moral issues with this performance. We have learnt at last why everything good is amiss. Nobody described it as exactly as the characters of the play, “It is because people don’t know what time the most important is, what person the most important is, what deed the most important is”. But everything is rather simple here. The young artists participating in the performance judged everyone, “The most important time is now. A man can dispose only it. The most important person is the one with whom you deal at this very moment. And the most important deed is the one that you can do for this person with good intent so that he or she could be happy”.

The spectators watched everything that was taking place on the stage and silently agreed with every answer. It is not without reason when people say that God lives in simplicity.

There is a month left till the Ascension of Christ. It means that all believers still have time to wish each other a Happy Easter and to rejoice at the Resurrection of Christ. Christ is Risen! May your hearts be lit up and let eternal love reign in them!
