A multimedia project will be introduced in the Kirillo-Belozersky Museum-Reserve this Friday – the application “Mobile Guide” for Android based smart phones will be tested on December 15. It was made thanks to the victory of the Kirillo-Belozersky Museum-Reserve in the Seventh Grant Contest held by PAO Severstal within the framework of the charity program “Museums of the Russian North”.

There is a free Wi-Fi access point in the Kazan Tower where everybody will get a free “guide” downloading the application. This guide will tell and show where you are at the moment, what monuments are near you and will even inform you if there is a café, ticket offices and toilets nearby.

Pointing to a certain architectural structure, you will get detailed information about it. You will be able to decide whether it is worth visiting this or that building even without entering it: one click and you will see a panorama!

The creators of the application from the Maugry Company faced some difficulties developing the program: there was so much information given about the monuments that they couldn’t get everything offline and decided to post some materials in the Internet. “It is even good. A person will be able to see not only the content of the application, but to get more detailed information online if he or she wants. Though there are a lot of interesting points in the application itself. For example, users will be able to see even reconstructions of the most interesting buildings of the monastery! We will show how the buildings looked at the moment when they were constructed. Besides, there will be films about the monastery and the museum, computer games, announcements of the forthcoming events. You will also have a chance to order a tour that will be conducted by a real guide that cannot be replaced by any application”, noted A.I. Smirnov, head of the project, head of the Department of Information Technologies in the Kirillo-Belozersky Museum-Reserve.

At preset the application is available within test environment.

We look forward to seeing everybody who wants to test the application together with us in the conference hall of the museum on December 15 at 17:30. Everybody who has an Android based smart phone will be able to use the free application “Mobile Guide of the Kirillo-Belozersky Museum-Reserve” and to go for walk in the monastery and not to fear that you may lose your way or be in the information vacuum. The detailed presentation of the application is scheduled for the beginning of 2018.
