Events marking decade of disabled persons took place in museum

A number of events for disabled people, inmates of the social centre, patients of the mental hospital in Pustyn and members of the Society of the Disabled and the Blind were organized in the museum within the framework of this decade. Their list included tours, various master-classes, concerts, creative lessons, and other programs.

A tour of the exhibition about the professional work of fine art restorer Olga Sokolova staged in the People’s House was conducted for members of the Society of the Disabled and the Blind on December 1.

Museum employees delivered the master-classes “Moulded Ceramics” and “Artistic Felt” in the mental hospital in Pustyn on December 2 and 9.

The concert “Warm our hearts with kindness” took place in the conference hall of the museum on December 3. The program was prepared together with the psychoneurologic hospitals in Pustyn and Vognema. Patients of these institutions recited poems, sang songs and performed some folk-tunes playing the button accordion. Besides, musicians of Kirillov participated in the concert: Elena Antonova, the Folk Song Ensemble “Light Chamber” and children of the Dance Studio “Grace” (the District Cultural Centre).  

The meeting with veterans was held in the Museum of Town and District History on December 4. A tour of the exhibition “Ladies’ Articles” was conducted for them. This display presents items used by women of Kirillov and its outskirts in the 19th-20th centuries. They come from the holdings of the Kirillo-Belozersky Museum-Reserve and some private collections. The guests could see dresses, kerchiefs, gloves, hats, shoes, imitation jewelry, bags made of beads, caskets, boxes for cosmetics, bottles for perfumery products, and so on.

People’s Artist of Russia Marina Vasilieva initiated museum visitors into the elements of pottery on December 5. Veterans of the social centre created a folk doll at the museum master-class on December 7.

On December 9, museum employees went to Talitsy in the Kirillov district and wished all veterans living in the local care home a Happy New Year
