Evening with Alexander Tsurkan was held in Kirillo-Belozersky Museum-Reserve

“To act in a bad film or to act badly is spit in eternity”, said Russian film and theatre actor Alexander Tsurkan answering questions after the evening that took place in the Kirillo-Belozersky Museum-Reserve. “Later people will see it and estimate. The main judge for an actor is always spectators. They don’t forgive mistakes…”

Take. The next one and one more. You can replay and correct your mistake in a film. And what about the theatre? “If you make a bad shot in the theatre, that’s all. You won’t have the second take. The theatre is very strong-willed and spiritual art. Human spirit and energy are focused in the theatre”, added Alexander Tsurkan.

He could make a mistake neither at the theater nor at the meeting with the spectators who came to the conference hall of the Kirillo-Belozersky Museum-Reserve. It was also very responsible to act here - in such a historical place! The actor admitted at once that it was very valuable for him to be there. Alexander Tsurkan likes the Vologda region and local poets. “First of all, when I come here, I go to the cemetery where Rubtsov is buried. And do you know what actually pleases me? It is the fact that every time when I am there I see burning candles, ring-shaped rolls, and small glasses. People don’t forget the Russian poet! They remember him!” he said.

The actor didn’t recite the verses of Nikolay Rubtsov. He sang them to the accompaniment of the guitar. The audience listened to every word of Alexander Tsurkan that was so penetrating and heart-rending.

He recited only the verse of Filatov that Alexander titled “Yes” in a different way. As if he spoke not to a man, but to the whole generation.

He remembered Pushkin and Davydov, ran through the milestones in the history, spoke about the princes of Belozersk, family and spirit, asked the audience not to lose faith and to support each other in any situation and also requested them to pray for the Russian warriors. “I have performed in Syria recently and promised the soldiers to tell about it at each concert wherever it took place. Nothing good will happen without a prayer”, continued Alexander Tsurkan. “Remember: in the beginning was the word, and the word was God”.

Everybody knows that the word is mighty. You can kill with a word and can revive. A word for an actor is also an instrument. The instrument that connects him and spectators. “A great actor is always an artist. And the artist lives to express spiritual substance of his people, time and humanity. Is he not great if he pursues lofty aims”, noticed Alexander Tsurkan rhetorically. “A real actor must be close to God, take the high road and have a respectful attitude towards the others and mustn’t do goodness knows what”.

The residents of Kirillov gave flowers and books to the actor at the end of the event. And he finally lifted the veil, “Soon I will begin to act in a new 12-part film “A Crane in the Sky”. I will play the role of an engineer of the design bureau. The movie promises to be very interesting”.

We will hope that it will be as successful for Alexander Tsurkan as “Crimson Colour of the Snowfall” directed by Vladimir Motyl. He played the part of Trofim Knyazhnykh in it so sincerely.

Cinema, theatre and love for the Motherland were discussed at the meeting with the Russian film and theatre actor.
