The issues of good use of the Russian language and the plan of the Belov Readings “Belov. Vologda. Russia” marking the 85th anniversary of the writer’s birth were discussed at the regional event.

The meeting of the Russian Language Council under the Vologda Region Governor was held in the regional capital in late March. Mikhail Sharomazov, director of the Kirillo-Belozersky Museum-Reserve, participated in the event chaired by O.A. Vasiliev, Deputy Governor of the Vologda Region and deputy chairman of the council.

They discussed the following issues at the meeting: formation of the ranking of regional newspapers, results and prospects of the implementation of the project “Vologda – City of Literate Persons” and organization of the Belov Readings “Belov. Vologda. Russia” marking the 85th anniversary of the writer’s birth.

Participation of the director of the Kirillo-Belozersky Museum-Reserve in the council was for a good reason. The Memorial Flat of Vasily Belov located in Vologda is a branch of the Federal State Budgetary Institution of Culture “Kirillo-Belozersky Historical, Architectural and Art Museum-Reserve”.

“The Memorial Flat of Vasily Belov was established on November 5, 2014, on the instructions of Russian President Vladimir Putin and thanks to the involvement of the deputy corps of the State Duma and the Federation Council of the Russian Federation, Vologda Region Governor O.A. Kuvshinnikov, the Vologda Region Legislative Assembly, writers and ordinary citizens – residents of the Vologda region”, explained Mikhail Sharomazov.

The participants of the meeting of the Russian Language Council also raised the question of language and speech proficiency of the municipal and regional mass media and put forward a proposal to organize a total dictation in Russian for the members of the Vologda Region Government.
