Nikolay Nikolayevich Fedyshin, representative of the legendary dynasty of the tempera painting restorers from Vologda, head of the Restoration Department of Repository Collections, died on July 25. He was 52 years old.

The Vologda region hosted the festival popular with admirers of original music for the seventh time. This year’s program included modern gypsy jazz or Jazz manouche – a modern variant of music that became popular in the 1930s. It was performed by the all-acoustic Gonzalo Bergara Quartet. The open-air concerts were given on three grounds: in the Vologda Kremlin (on July 15), in the Kirillo-Belozersky Museum-Reserve (on July 16) and in the Museum of Architecture and Ethnography in the village of Semenkovo (on July 17).
