Memorial Flat of Vasily Belov: about first results and plans for future

In autumn 2015, the apartment in Vologda at 10 Oktyabrskaya Street where the writer Vasily Belov had lived since the late 1980s, got a status of the memorial flat and became a branch of the Kirillo-Belozersky Historical, Architectural and Art Museum-Reserve. Belov wrote the novels “The Year of a Major Breakdown”, “The Sixth Hour”, “A Story about One Village”, “Vologda’s Buktinas”, plenty of short stories, including “The Soul is Immortal” that became a visiting card of the writer, in this very flat. The museum became famous right after its opening – the name of Vasily Belov speaks for itself and attracts admirers of his creative activity. Olga Anfimova, head of the Memorial Flat of Vasily Belov, told about the first results and further prospects.

Exhibition of Vologda’s fine art restorer Olga Sokolova was opened in People’s House

O.A. Sokolova is a fine art restorer of fresco and easel tempera painting of the highest qualification, an icon painter, an author of many copies-reconstructions of church frescoes and icons, a graphic artist, a member of the Union of Russian Artists, a member of the Russian Association of Restorers, a certificated expert of the RF Ministry of Culture in historical and cultural examination, a chairperson of the Vologda Branch of the Union of Russian Restorers. O.A. Sokolova has been cooperating with the Kirillo-Belozersky Museum-Reserve since 1983. At the beginning of her career, the Nativity of the Virgin Cathedral of the Ferapontov Monastery became the first object of her work. She participated in the study of Dionisy’s frescoes. As for the Kirillo-Belozersky Monastery, Olga Sokolova examined the 19th-century painting and gilded the base columns in the Refectory with the Church of the Presentation of the Virgin in the Temple (1519), studied and restored the wall-painting in the porch of the Assumption Cathedral (1497).
